We decided to book a vacation for Dash. And no, not just take dash with us on a vacation, but plan a vacation for Dash! After researching some pet friendly cities we settled on Washington, DC!
If you’re traveling anywhere with an animal companion, a Kimpton is always an amazing option. There’s no additional charge or deposit for your furbabies and they provide amenities like a plush bed, bowls, a free toy, and treats. They also offer a happy hour where pets are welcome. The best part about staying at a Kimpton is seeing all the other doggos in the elevators and lobby. For this trip we stayed at Kimpton Glover Park Hotel, which is within walking distance of the Washington National Cathedral. We spent at least half of each day walking around with Dash and then would stop back by the hotel so he could rest and we could check out some of the museums!
We stopped by Art and Soul where they have a Pooch Patio Menu! Dash chose the Gravy Train with house made beef and rice in savory gravy. It was a huge serving and he had to get a doggy bag.
So many of DC’s attractions are outside so it’s a perfect place to bring along you animal companion. Dash fits in a little side carrier so we were able to bring him on the metro which definitely saved our feet. We were also lucky enough to catch the end of the cherry blossom season. But I think Dash’s favorite was the Fala statue at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial.
